It weighs almost nothing, water runs off it rather than soaking in, and it is remarkably hard to tear even though it feels like paper. The first run of this tote used a snap button on the interior laptop sleeve that was stronger than the lining around it, and over time it could tear the Tyvek at that point. This version uses a gold magnetic closure instead, which holds a laptop securely without stressing the fabric. We also added an exterior zip pocket, which the first run did not have.
