In winter, the desert trades its bold intensity for subtlety. The colors feel calmer, muted reds, pale sage greens, soft neutrals shaped by frost and light. Trails feel more intimate. Moments feel more personal.
It’s the kind of season that reminds you that romance doesn’t have to be grand. Sometimes, it’s found in quiet mornings, shared warmth, and thoughtful gestures.
February is a gentle invitation to slow your pace. To savor warmth where you can find it. To choose things that bring comfort and joy not because they’re loud or flashy, but because they feel good to live with.
This mindset mirrors how we believe in shopping, too. Choosing fewer things, but better ones. Objects that feel meaningful. Gifts that feel chosen, not rushed.
Here are a few things that have been in my weekly if not daily, routine.
- Writing in my Rising Sun Foild Gratitude Journal.
- Taking my morning coffee with me to go in my travel mug while walking Rupert.
- Hoping back on the treadmill and making sure I stay hydrated with my waterbottle.
- Reading books that have intentional messages to my son.
If you find yourself here this season, take your time. Wander a little slower. Let the desert show you its softer side.
Sometimes, that’s when it’s most unforgettable.
