Kinder to your hair than the elastic in the bottom of your bag. 100% mulberry silk glides instead of gripping, so it holds a ponytail without pulling, snagging, or leaving that afternoon dent. Wear it through the day, sleep in it at night, wake up without the crease.

You move dozens of times in your sleep, and every one of those turns drags your hair against whatever is holding it. Silk is the softest thing you can ask to do that job. It is the easiest upgrade to make to your hair routine, and the only one that works while you are unconscious.

Four sizes, from Small for a neat topknot or finer hair up to XL for thick hair and a full, soft ponytail. Five colors: Ivory, Champagne, Dark Pink, Plum, and Black.

What do 22 momme and 6A grade mean?

Momme is the unit that measures the weight and density of silk, the way thread count works for cotton. The higher the number, the denser and more durable the fabric. Quality silk runs between 19 and 25 momme, and 22 sits in the range that balances softness with durability, so it feels substantial without going stiff. 6A is the top grade on the silk scale, which runs 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, A and then down through B to F. A 6A grading means long, even, unbroken fibers with no impurities. Together, 100% mulberry silk at 22 momme and 6A grade is the highest specification you will find in a hair accessory.

Why is silk better for your hair, especially overnight?

Silk fibers are smoother than cotton, so they create less friction against the hair. Independent lab testing measured the difference at roughly 34 percent. Friction is what lifts the hair cuticle, and a lifted cuticle is what becomes a snag, a split, or a break at the hair tie line. Silk also absorbs less moisture than cotton, so your natural oils and whatever you put in your hair stay in your hair instead of wicking away overnight. Dermatologists point to both of these, less snagging and less moisture loss, as the reasons silk is recommended for fine hair, curls, color treated hair, and anyone growing their hair out. It is not a cure for damaged hair. It is one less thing working against it for eight hours a night.

Is there a dressed up version?

Yes. The Crystal Silk Scrunchie is the same 22 momme, 6A grade mulberry silk in the same five colors, set with tiny rhinestones. It comes in one size and is the one for weddings, holidays, and nights out.
